"Morgan County, Illinois birth and death records were not recorded
before 1878.
Marriage recording began in year 1821 when the county was formed.
The Morgan County Clerk issues only one kind of certificate and that is
a "certified"
one and the charge as of this date is :
Certified death certificate ------------------------$17.00 each.
Certified birth certificate----------------------------$15.00 each.
Certified marriage certificate----------------------$15.00 each.
DEATH CERTIFICATE You can
write to the Morgan County Clerk,
Courthouse, Jacksonville, IL 62650 for a copy of a certified death certificate.
The cost is $17 each. Dates begin 1878 and are current. However,
early ones
contain very little information. The information correctness depends
on who gave the
information required on the certificate.
BIRTH CERTIFICATES are $15 each (certified copy). Dates begin
1878
and are current. Same as above; correctness of certificate depends
on person
supplying information and early ones contain very little information.
Write to Morgan County Clerk for a copy.
MARRIAGES: Marriage records begin when a county is formed.
The Morgan
County file begins 1821 and is current. Note: the first 180 were
lost in a court-
house fire. Records are inclined to be correct since the persons
involved were
responsible for the answers. If the male was under 21 and the female
under 18,
it was necessary for them to get permission to wed. This is the only
time you
might get names of the parents in the early marriage records. These
records
cost $15 each (certified copy). We have a copy of the MARRIAGES FOR
STATE OF ILLINOIS on fiche for the period ending 1900. Also can
obtain
same information from internet connection. ____ Check these two sources,
and send results.

CITY DIRECTORIES: Not all years are available.
The first one was printed in 1860 for Jacksonville. We have 1866,
1890 (this helps fill in for Jacksonville 1890 census which was destroyed
by the government when most of the records burned), 1876-1877, 1910 (cannot
be photocopied due to age), 1915, 1921, and 1927 to present date.
We will research the year you request and 2 years before and 2 years after
that date. Name person to be researched and year ______________________________________.
Results will be photocopied.
