Henrietta Sue Bennett
                                                                                                
Henrietta Sue Bennett, 62, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 11:33 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, 
at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
            
She was born in Mt. Vernon on Monday, March 26, 1945, the daughter of Henry V. and 
Mary Opal (Chelf) Laswell.  She married Clarence W. “Ben” Bennett on Sept. 28, 1962, in 
Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2006.
            
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County 
with Pastor Robert Abbott officiating.  Interment will follow.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
            
Henrietta is survived by two daughters, Kelly Chronister and husband Jarod of Mt. Vernon and 
Stacy Shepler and husband Dennis of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, Levi Bennett, D. J. Shepler and 
Cody Shepler; a brother Henry V. Laswell, Jr. of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Joyce Smart and husband 
Ed of Woodlawn and Joann Coffey and husband Ronnie of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews 
also survive.
            
Her parents; her husband; and one grandson, Blade Bennett, preceded her in death
            
Henrietta was a member of the Mt. Vernon Eagles Aerie Lodge Auxiliary and was a lifetime 
member of V.F.W. post 1376.
            
For those who wish, memorial may be given to the Mt. Vernon Eagle’s Auxiliary and will be 
accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home P.O. Box 721,
