OBITUARIES |
Ernest Black Mt. Vernon Ernest Black, 74, 1105 Wescott St., a retired laborer, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday at his home. (Handwritten Sat. 3-7-1981.) He was born in Jefferson County June 17, 1906, the son of Sherman and Almira (Roberts) Black. Mr. Black was an Army veteran of World War II, enlisted Feb. 9, 1943. He was discharged Sept. 22, 1945. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hughey Funeral Home with J. Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will follow in Abner Cemetery in Nason. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Survivors include one son, Warren E. Black of Centralia; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
