Ida Chambliss The funeral for Ida Chambliss, 89, former resident of Mt. Vernon, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Osborn Funeral Home at Dix with Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Chambliss died at 1:33 a.m. Thursday in the Carmi Township Hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1896, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of James M. and Rosa (Rapp) Purcell. In 1914 she married Oscar Chambliss, who preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1947. Survivors include one son, Talmadge Chambliss of Marksville, LA.; three daughters, Mrs. Wilroy (Vivian) Byars of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. J.E. (Moneda) Hawkins of Iuka, and Mrs. Dean (Doris) Stirewalt of Texico; one brother, Clarence Purcell; six grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chambliss was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. She was a retired worker for the State of Illinois TB Sanitarium in Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, three brothers and one great-granddaughter." Published in the "Mt.
