OBITUARY:  The Mt. Vernon Register News published the following on November 
30, 1931 which read: 

"Word has been received by Mrs. E.R. Hoffman, south 
Fifteenth street, of the death of Mrs. Rose Dodds, widow of Joseph M. Dodds, 
formerly of Jefferson county, in San Jose, California.  Mrs. Dodds died last 
night.  When residents of Jefferson county, the family lived in Elk Prairie 
township, where Mr. Dodds was a successful farmer.  Mrs. Dodds was a siser of 
Mrs. E. R. Hoffman."
