C. Schley Dorris


C. Schley Dorris died at 7:45 a.m. today at his home, 819 north 10th street. 
He was 64 years, eight months and 24 days old. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pulley-Gutzler Funeral 
Chapel with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating.  Burial will be in New Shiloh 
cemetery, near Mt. Vernon. 

The body will lie in state at the Pulley-Gutzler Funeral Home where friends may 
call after 4:00 p.m. Friday. 

Mr. Dorris was born Aug. 8, 1898 at Shawneetown, the son of William and Hannah 
(Spurlock) Dorris. 

In 1924, at Nashville, he was married to Lillian Norman, who survives. 

He is also survived by a son, Delmar Dorris of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mrs. Clara 
Yearwood of this city; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister. 

Mr. Dorris was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist church, the I.O.O.F. Lodge, 
and Cement Finishers Local 331.
