Louis ELKINS, age 43, died this morning at 3:30 o'clock at
his home 1015 Shawnee Street. He had been ill for eleven
weeks suffering with a complication of diseases.
Mr. ELKINS was a native of this county, and has lived in
Mt. Vernon for the last four years, having been in the employ
of the Mt. Vernon Car Company. He had many friends in this
city and throughout the county.
Mr. ELKINS is survived by a wife and one son, William ELKINS,
age 8; a sister, Mrs. Ellen PICKETT, of this city, and brother
Dan ELKINS, living in Kentucky.
Mr. ELKINS has been a member of the Free Baptist Church of
Salem for eleven years. A short funeral service will be held
at the residence tomorrow morning at ten o'clock, following
which the body will be taken to Hickory Hill Church, where
services will be held at one o'clock. The interment will be
at Hickory Hill Cemetery.
