Maggie Belle (Fox) Fields Maggie B Fox was born in Blissville Township, Jefferson County, Illinois on 30 day of May, 1881, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to her now bereaved husband, J O Fields, on the 18th day of May, 1906. This union is blessed with two children , Paul and Fern. She was converted at Minson church in Blissville Township, about 15 years ago, and united with the M. E. Church, and on coming to Mt. Vernon she placed her membership in the First Church, and was a member of same at her death. She was a christian and enjoyed the Sunday school and taught a class. She was of a cheerful disposition, attracting many thereby to be her friends. She had been in failing health for some months. A hard fight was made by skilled physicians to save her life. The disease developed rapidly and after weeks of intense suffering she passed without a struggle to be with Christ and rejoice forever more in the glory world. She passed away, March the 6th, 1914, age 32 years, 9 months, and six days. "Asleep in Jesus! Peaceful rest. Whose waking is supremely blessed! No fear, no woe, shall dim that hour that manifests a Saviors power. A husband, two children, father, mother, three brothers, two sisters, and a hist of relatives and friends remain to mourn their loss. The funeral was conducted from the Wesley M. E. Church at 2 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, March 8th, by the Rev. J.C. Kinison and the Rev. C.C. Hall. The body was laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery.
