George Gulley, Valier, dies Tuesday Night George Gulley, 83, Valier died Tuesday evening at the Pinckneyville Hospital after an extended illness. A retired coal miner, he was a member of UMWA local union 1124. He last worked for the Valier Coal Company. Surviving are his wife, Edna Lewis Gulley, and nine children. They are: Guy Gulley, Mulkeytown; Paul Gulley, Sesser; Kenneth Gulley, Valier; Nolan Gulley; Benton; Mrs. Hattie McCormick, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Velma Loman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Mrs. Betty Loman, Elkville; Mrs. Ruth Loman, Opdyke, Ill. and Mrs. Earlene Burlison, West Frankfort. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ada Phillips and Mrs. Ossie Parks, (sic) both of Christopher, 29 Grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Gulley. Services for Mr. Gulley will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Russell Funeral Home in Christopher with Reverend Floyd Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Notes provided by submitter: George Gulley's surviving sister, Ossie's, last name was Park not Parks.
