Betty Ruth Hammer
 
Betty R. Hammer, 76, of Mt. Vernon died 10:10 a.m. June 23,2001, 
at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hammer was born Feb.28,1925, in Mt. Vernon to Alvin Jefferson and 
Gussie (Scrivner) Scott. She married Carlie O. Hammer Oct. 20,1945,in 
Mt. Vernon; he died June 14,1984.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 
The Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate. Burial will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetary.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, Ted Hammer of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Vicki Hans and 
husband Joseph of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren Shelia Witt and husband John, 
Chris Hans and wife Theresa, Melanie Hans, Steven Hans and Joanne Hans; and five 
great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hammer was a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
