Rosia E. Hayes dies at age 79; rites Thursday
Rosia Ellen Hayes, of 818 S. 18th street, died at Jefferson Memorial 
Hospital at 11:50 a.m. yesterday at the age of 79 years, four months and 
21 days. 

A native of Jefferson county, the daughter of Taylor (NOTE: Matthew 
Taylor) and Jane (NOTE: Martha Jane) (Brookman) Lisenby, she spent her 
entire life in the county, and had lived in Mt. Vernon six years and was 
in the hospital several days with a critical illness before her death. 
She was the widow of Richard L. Hayes, who died in 1949. 
Surviving are three sons, Tom and Olen of Mt. Vernon and Harley of 
Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Smith and Mrs. Opal Houston of Mt. 
Vernon; two brothers, Abe Lisenby of Dix and Aud Lisenby of Kell; two 
sisters, Mrs. Louise Rector of Texico and Mrs. Lizzie Luttrell of Kell; and 
26 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held from East Salem Baptist church Thursday 
at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Roy Beal in charge. Burial will be in the East 
Salem cemetery. 
Friends may call at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.
