Everett S. Howell

Everett S. Howell, 78, of Route 2, Bluford, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday 
at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.
He was post master at Bluford for 28 years, retiring in 1965. He also 
taught school several years ago.

He was born in Bluford on July 29, 1901, the son of John Robert and 
Nora Ellen (Russell) Howell.

In June of 1925 he married Mattie Fletcher, who preceded him in death 
on July 25, 1972.

He was a member of the Bluford Baptist Church where he was a deacon 
for more than 50 years.  He was a member of the Jefferson Lodge No. 368 AF&AM 
at Opdyke for 50 years and the Patton Commandery No. 69.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bluford Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Bob Hill officiating.

Burial will be in East Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Howell is survived by his step-mother, Nellie Howell of Sims; two 
brothers-in-law, Jesse Green of Mt Vernon and John Fletcher of Ruskin, Fla; 
and several cousins.
