Florence Lillian Johnson
of Mt. Vernon, 
Is Dead at age 49


Florence Lillian Johnson, wife of Alfred V. Johnson, died at 1:30pm 
yesterday at her home on Mt. Vernon, Route 6.
She was 49 years, 3 months and 19 days of age.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Mt. Vernon on Feb. 27, 1916, the daughter of 
G. B. and Hattie (Wilson) Hayes. On  Dec. 20, 1939 she was married to 
Alfred Johnson who survives.

She was a member of the Hopewell Methodist Church, where services will 
be held Saturday at 2pm. Rev. A.B. Clodfelder will officiate and burial 
will be in the Hopewell Cemetery.  The body will lie in state at 
Osborn's Funeral Home in Dix after 4pm Friday.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Johnson is survived by her mother, Mrs. 
Hattie Hayes, of Mt. Vernon; one son Darrell Gene at home; two daughters 
Mrs. Berneda L. Lynch of Mt. Vernon and Glenda Marie at home;  three 
brothers, Otis Hayes of Mt. Vernon, John Hayes of Abilene, Texas, Jim Hayes 
of Belleville and one sister Fredia Hayes, of Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and one sister.
