James M. Kirk
James M. KIRK was born on October 1, 1867, departed this life June 17, 1921,
aged 53 years, 8 months, and 16 days. He leaves to mourn his departure; a
mother, Josephine ALLEN, a step-father, Rev. John ALLEN of Bonnie, a loving
wife, Ida M. KIRK, one son, Claude E. KIRK of Gary, Ind., one brother,
John P. KIRK of Bonnie, three sisters, Mrs. Victoria HOOTS of Bonnie and
Mrs. Louvaria KIRK and Ethel M. OATHOUT of Mt. Vernon and many other relatives
Deceased was married to Fannie Bennett, December 18, 1893. She departed
this life in May, 1896, to this union was born one son, Claude E. KIRK, who
still survives. On September 28, 1899 he was married to Ida M. WOLF of Hopkinsville, KY.
Brother KIRK was a member of the Masonic Order also of the Independent Order of
Odd Fellows, of McLeansboro. About 16 years ago he professed hope in Christ, and
united with the United Brethern Church having disbanded he was a follower and a
strong believer in the Primitive Baptist Doctrine, believing that the Lord was able
to do what he had promised. Brother Jim, was of a kind sunny disposition, always
trying to make those happy about him. Being of poor health for several years was
never heard to complain but a very little, and to meet him was to meet a friend.
Those attending the funeral from this city (McLeansboro), which occured at Bonnie
last Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. O. H. HYATT, W. O. IRVIN, Asa S. TODD, T. W. BIGGERSTAFF,
Joe PROCTOR, Z. W. GRAFF, Dr. W. A. TEVIS, M. O. OSBURN, Arthur ROBINSON, Sallie, Frank
and Edwin JONES, Logan HUNGATE, Adam GREEN, Willie DAVIS, James Wesley DAVIS and Wilson FREASE.

interred Elkton, KY.
