Mary Ellen Kniffen

Mary Ellen Kniffen, 71, 2821 Veterans Memorial Drive (formerly Fisher’s Lane), 
died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in Good Samaritan Hospital.  Mrs. Kniffen was born in 
Illinois Sept. 20, 1910, the daughter of George and Ellen (Atchison) Friar.  She 
was married to Ray Kniffen, and he died Aug. 17, 1978.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral Home in 
Ina with the Rev. Dick Atchison officiating.  Burial will follow in Hams Grove Cemetery.  
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 

Survivors include two sons, Harold of Ewing and Nick of Woodlawn; six grandchildren and 
five great grandchildren.  

Mrs. Kniffen was a member of the Spring Garden Community Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three grandchildren and 
four brothers.
