Hazel F. Melton

Hazel F. Melton, 73, of Mt.Vernon, passed away at her home 
on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 12;30 P.M.

Mrs. Melton was born Dec. 1, 1934 in Paragon, KY., the daughter 
of Crystal and Lorean [Staton] Donohue. She married Lawrence B. Melton 
on Jan. 10, 1972 in Clintwood,VA.

Hazel loved to play bingo, go to the casino, and she was a collector of 
all kinds of dolls. She loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. She 
was a member of the Old Timer's Car Club and also a member of the Moose Lodge 
and the V.F.W. of Mt.Vernon. Hazel was a very uplifting person who always loved 
to be surrounded by her family and friends.

Hazel leaves to behind her beloved husband Larry 'Bennie' Melton; a [step]daughter, 
Deonna Schreiber and husband David; one brother, John and wife Debbie Donohue; three 
sisters, Etta Mae Brown, Wanda Gilley, and Naomi [Moore]and husband Lloyd Harris, all 
of Morehead, KY., three [step]grandchildren; Tammy Jo Barber of DuQuoin, Artie Highfill, 
Davina Overbey and husband Brad, six great grandchildren;Trent, Tyler and Trevor Barber; 
Tylynn and Luther Highfill and Rayleigh Overbey all of Mt.Vernon. Several nieces and 
nephews; and her long time best friend, Betty [Lueke]Keller of Valier.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary and Marth Donohue.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Northcutt Funeral Home in Morehead, KY. 
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt.Vernon; and after 
4 p.m. Wednesday at Northcutt Funeral Home in Morehead, KY.
For those who whish, memorials may be given to the Lobo Animal Shelter and will be accepted 
at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.Box 721, Mt.Vernon, IL. 62864
