OBITUARY OF EDITH MAY MEDDERS Edith May Medders was born May 18, 1883 in Jefferson County, ILL. and died June 26, 1911, at 9 o'clock A. M. at her home 1017 South 6th St. of consumption. She married April 13, 1902 to Fred D. Moore. To this union to sons, Leland 6 years old and Granville, 1 year old. Edith was converted to Christ several years ago, at old Lebanon church, at a meeting conducted by Rev. Ewing of the Free Methodist church. The last few months she grew stronger in faith and lived a most devoted Christian until the Lord said it is enough; come up higher. Through all her suffering she was not heard to complain of her condition; often saying, "I don't let anything bother me. I am perfectly resigned to his will." While conversing on the subject of death she said, "If it is God's will for me to go, I am ready. Of course I would like to live to raise my children, but I want God's will to be done." He last words were, "I am nearly home." She leaves besides a bereaved husband and two little boys, a mother Mrs. Eliza Medders; one sister, Mrs. Mary Roney, and three brother, Gus, Norrill, and Grover and a host of relatives and friends. Her father and one sister preceded her to the Great Beyond. The obituary that I have was left to me by my father Leland Moore, Sr. and is written in his hand. It was probably copied from one that an uncle, Gus or Wm. Brian Medders, had. Date: Source: Submitted by: Leland Moore, Jr.
