GRACE NEWELL PLACE, MT. VERNON: 

Grace "Maude" Place, 95, died Friday evening at her home, 
1408 White Street. Mrs. Place was born Dec. 21, 1881, in 
Jefferson County, the daughter of Phillip and Lina (Henry) Newell. 
She was married to Frank Place. He preceded her in death in 1929. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday at Myers-Baril 
Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James L. Feaman officiating. Burial 
will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery, Waltonville. Friends may call at 
the funeral chapel after 6 p.m., Sunday. 
Mrs. Place is survived by a son, Paul of Aurora, three daughters, 
Sylvia Robins; Ruby Ion and Wilma Imig and a sister, Maggie Mitchell 
of Langleyville; a sister-in-law Fay Newell of Langleyville, 10 
grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. 
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons and a
daughter. Cecil Emily Wells: (Was blind for most of her life, yet managed 
to be a good mother, an excellent housekeeper.
She seemed to know what type of person you were after feeling your 
facial features).
