Richard McClure Ratliff
Richard McClure Ratliff, 78, of Route 6, Mt. Vernon, died at 6:45 pm
Tuesday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ratliff was born in Jefferson county on Jan, 15, 1896, the son of
Richard Lewis and Anna (McClure) Ratliff. He was married on July 20, 1920,
in Mt. Vernon, to Cora Carpenter, who survives.
Mr. Ratliff attended Forest Hill School, and was a veteran of World War I,
attaining the rank of sergeant in Company F, 60th Infantry. He was a member
of Zion Methodist church, and of the D.A.V. and the Veterans of World War I.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2pm at the Osborn Funeral Home in
Dix, with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 pm today.
Mr. Ratliff is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Cassel Ratliff, Mt. Vernon; three
grandchildren, Mrs. J. L. Price, Marion, Mrs. Terrance Gillespie, Memphis, Tenn.,
and William R. Cassel, Mt. Vernon; one great-grandchild, Michael B. Price; and a
brother, J. Lester Ratliff, Mt. Vernon.
