John E. Sigwerth
Of Mt. Vernon Dies
At Age 64
Services for John E. Sigwerth, 64, 913 S. 24th., who died at 7:15 p.m.
Monday at St. Louis University Hospital, will be held 1 p.m. Friday at
Hughey Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Stanford officiating. Burial will
be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sigwerth was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Waltonville a son of Sid and
Lizzie (Jury) Sigwerth. On March 13, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, he married
Anne E. Newbury, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Randy Sigwerth at home,
one brother, Sidney Sigwerth and his wife, Alverda, of Mt. Vernon; three sisters,
Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Coats of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Orpha Rector of Mt. Vernon, and
Mrs. Carl (Katie) Kemp of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sigwerth was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond,
Charles and Arthur.
The deceased had been employed at Egyptian Wholesale Florist in Centralia
for the last 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 1376 in Mt. Vernon.
He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church.
