My grandparents, Raleigh and Susie (Joy) Mayo were married in Mount Vernon on April 27, 1918. The Mayo family arrived in Mount Vernon after the Spanish-American War from Enfield and Missouri. The Joy family has a longer history in Mt Vernon

The young boy is my father, Joy Aaron Mayo with his mother in the early 1920s. Dad never mentioned he had a dog.
