Search billions of records on

     Kane County, Illinois GenWeb

Nothing makes this project more satifying than knowing that you helped someone make a 'connection' with their family. I REALLY look forward to hearing about your successes. When you share them with me, I'll share them with all (unless you ask me not to, of course!). So read on to see others who have had success working with ILGenWeb in Kane County.

Many thanks for the excellent web pages you keep. I was able to find my GG Grandfatherís sister, Henrietta BAXTER FARRELL from your pages. This branch of the family has been a mystery for years, but once I found her in Hampshire I was able to trace her and her children right from the 1850ís into the 1930s all from the links on your web pages. Thanks again. Douglas H. Baxter

I was doing some research on the Kane County site at rootsweb. I noticed a note under the "History of the Elgin Mental Health Center" that said it wasn't possible to get patient records. I did get the entire record of my great-aunt (who is deceased) about 3 years ago. I called the Elgin Mental Health Center and asked how I would go about getting the records. I had to write a letter to the Kane County Judicial Circuit and explain why I wanted the records. A while later, I received her entire medical record in the mail. I would start by asking the hospital how to proceed. Hopefully they haven't changed their policy since then. Jill
