The Chayer Family

The Francois Chayer family came to the Kankakee area in the late 1850's. Francois Chayer born in Canada in 1782 married Marie Anne Thibault in Canada. Francois died in Kankakee in 1886 and is buried in St. Anne Protestant Cemetery. The children of Francois and Marie Anne Chayer are as follows: Francois Chayer born about 1826 in Canada married Virginia Boisveau September 1, 1856 in Kankakee, Jean Baptiste Chayer born about 1830 married Merance Palaguien, Clement Chayer born November 16, 1831 in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada married in St. Anne January 9, 1859 to Melena Bourgeois, and he died December 19, 1919 in Ottawa County, Kansas, Felix Chayer born January 13, 1836 in Montreal region of Quebec, Canada married June 7, 1866 to Arminnia Cyr in Kankakee and he died April 23, 1913 in Cloud County, Kansas. Many of Francois and Marie Anne Chayer's grandchildren are listed in Father Chiniquy's Ledger. There were probably other children in their family .
