Kane County Naturalizations, Microfilm

A cooperative program with the Kane County Circuit Court allowed KCGS members to abstract designated information from all the county naturalizations (1857-1955).

Kane County Genealogical Society members abstracted 2500 pages of information from the 28,008 Declarations and Final Papers, Docket books and miscellaneous records. The applicant's name, birth date, year of arrival, document date, country of origin, spouse's name, children's names and witness's names were abstracted from the original records. Due to the volume of the abstractions, the Kane County Naturalization data was made available on microfilm.

The material for each naturalization book is preceded by an example of the documents found in the original book.

Four indexes (500 pages) are included on the first film: the applicant index including the indexes for all docket and miscellaneous naturalization books; the spouse index; the child index; and the witness index.

Using information from the film, copies of the original documents can be easily obtained from the Circuit Court.

The materials appear on two 16 mm negative films.

These films are a must for any library offering research opportunities for Kane County researchers!
