Chicago Area Paddling/Fishing Page  The site-owner says it best, "... at my site, under Chicago River and DesPlaines River, I have a number of maps dating back from 1847 to 1914 showing re-routing of waterways in the Chicago Area.  ...  You might find the history interesting?"  I can only add that a major avenue into Lake County during early settlement were the waterways.
