Look-ups: Look-up volunteers are always needed. If you have access to a Lake County Family History, a volume of any aspect of Lake County history, indexes of censuses, births, deaths, or marriages, and are willing to take requests for information from those records, you can be a GREAT help! E-mail us & and you will be added to the Look-ups page.

Cemeteries:We would like to have someone help with information regarding each cemetery listed, (the caretaker or someone who has done research on that location) or who would be willing to "walk" that cemetery in response to questions. Interested? E-mail us & and as we get new information, we will add it to the appropriate page.

Families of Lake County: If you've got your Lake County-related genealogy or biography up on a Web page, let us know the URL so we can add a link to it.

USGenWeb has 3 projects currently running that we need help with. They are:

Census also here. USGenWeb would like to get indexes to censuses listed on the Internet. There are two census projects at GenWeb. This is public information, and we'd like to make it available to all. If you would like to donate an index that you've already done, or are available for typing, or can index the census from the microfilm, see the ILGenWeb Help Wanted Page, for more information!

Cemeteries: We'd like to get ALL cemeteries in the US indexed and up on the 'Net! This is an ambitious goal; with vandalism and weathering, much of this information is being destroyed. If you can help in any capacity, even for cemeteries outside of Lake County, e-mail us, or see the ILGenWeb Help Wanted Page for more information. We'll put you in contact with the right person!

Civil War: Another project is to get Civil War Rosters from all counties up on the 'Net. If you have this information, or can help type it up, e-mail us. If you have rosters or company histories that you'd like to donate, send them in!

A lot of this work has been done already by local historical or genealogical societies. We don't want to step on toes, or infringe on copyrights. Encourage your Society to donate a roster, census or cemetery listing to USGenWeb! Full credit will be given to the Society, and copyright notices are posted on each donation, as applicable.
