[Page 16] E. B. STILES - Editor of the Ransom Review. In 1899 he took charge of this newspaper, which was founded by Mr. FORD and known as the Ransom Republic. Later name changed to Ransom News and edited by J. H. BROWN, now of Blair, Nebraska, who sold it to Mr. STILES. Mr. STILES has been a resident of the county since 1881. He was born in Mendon Twp., Monroe Co., New York, in 1836, and with his parents moved to Boyd’s Grove, Bureau Co., Illinois, in his youth. There he grew to manhood and married Miss Sarah WILSON, of Bureau Co., who was born in Peoria, Ill. Four children grace their union: Harry C., now of Chicago; Minnie, wife of G. G. HOOVER, at Streator; Charles L., at Streator; and Ray E., of Ransom.
