[Page 32]  BARNET L. BONAR, M. D.  -  Physician at Streator.  Born at Coon Island, Washington Co., Pennsylvania, July 31, 1852.  His father, Samuel BONAR, was also native of that county, born July 9, 1822 and was son of Barnet BONAR, who was born January 14, 1778 on the same farm, where he died February 1, 1870.  The latter was son of William BONAR, who was born in Scotland, July 9, 1740, and whose father, Barnet BONAR, was born in 1695, near Edinburgh, and came to U. S. in 1740, coming to Washington Co., Penn., in 1774, one of the first settlers of that county.  The Doctor’s father was a farmer.  He married Miss Elizabeth ANDREWS, daughter of William and Elizabeth (McCONNELL) ANDREWS, all of Richland Co., Ohio.  Dr. BONAR graduated in 1880 from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania.  Went to Bucyrus, Ohio and opened office for one year.  In 1881 he came to Streator.  In 1888 he married Miss Sarah MODES, daughter of Wm. MODES, of Streator.  They have two children:  Jessie and Barnet E.
