[Page 36]  DYSON MILLER - Came with parents to Mission Twp., in 1832, when 2-1/2 years old.  He was born in Marion Co., Ohio, December 23, 1829, and is of German lineage, his grandfather, Peter MILLER, was born in Germany, and came to America during the Revolutionary War.  He was in the war and then located in Ohio.  Peter MILLER Jr., father of our subject, was born in Ross Co., Ohio, September 5, 1802.  He was married in Ohio to Harriet HOLDERMAN, daughter of Abraham HOLDERMAN, a pioneer of Kendall, then part of La Salle Co., Illinois.  In 1832 Mr. MILLER, his wife, and son, Dyson, age 2-1/2 years came to Illinois, settled south of Sheridan.  In 1870 moved to Sheridan and died in 1889.  His wife passed away in 1888.  Dyson grew up on father’s farm, and has always lived in Mission Twp.  In 1851 he married Miss Harriet Amelia BEARDSLEY, native of Massachusetts, a daughter of Wm. BEARDSLEY, pioneer settler of Serena Twp.  In 1894, Mrs. MILLER died.  The children born to this marriage were:  William B., now of Chicago;  Mrs. Jane Ann MOORE, of Michigan;  John H., of Minnesota;  Mrs. Mary R. SPRADLING, of Kansas;  Mrs. Hattie R. SPURR, of Aurora, Ill.;  Robert R., of Sheridan;  Peter H., of Ottawa;  Harry, died in infancy.
