[Page 40] WILLIAM R. LEWIS - Born in Putnam County, Illinois, March 3, 1843. Of the eight children born to the Hon. S. R. LEWIS, but four sons survive, the others being: E. C.; Charles; and S. M., who is farming in Fall River twp. In 1860 he located upon present farm. In 1865 he married Miss E. A. EICHELBERGER, whose father was born February 28, 1813 and died April 16, 1879. He was an early settler of this township, coming to Ottawa in 1837 from York Co., Pennsylvania. His widow was born December 4, 1821 and is still living in this vicinity. Four children were born to our subject: Anna, who married S. E. JONES, at Earlville, Illinois; Edward C.; Edith C.; and F. W. The three younger children are all at home. Mr. LEWIS has served eight years as Justice of the Peace.
