[Page 50] URIAS J. HOFFMAN - Superintendent of La Salle Co. Schools. His father, John HOFFMAN, was native of Saxe-Weimar, Germany. There, he married Margaret KOELNER, and they came to U. S. in 1852. Settled in Indiana, where the father died a few years later. The widow left with two small sons, remarried. Urias J., was born in Wawaka, Noble County, Indiana, May 12, 1855. In 1885 he married Miss Ella WALKER, in Earlville, Illinois. Their child, Margaret, was born September 5, 1898.
