[Page 55] ROBERT NEWTON BAUGHMAN - Dentist in Marseilles, Illinois. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 22, 1847 and died in Marseilles, May 29, 1897. Son of Robert and Margaret (ARMSTRONG) BAUGHMAN. His father was born in Pennsylvania, and his mother in Ohio. Robert was a painter. Robert N. attended school in Cincinnati, then studied dentistry at Cincinnati Dental College and began practice at Toledo, Ohio. He located later in southern Illinois, and in 1881 came to Marseilles, where he practiced till 1892, when he retired. August 11, 1887, Dr. BAUGHMAN married Miss Harriet E. GAGE, second daughter of Isaac and Lucy (LITTLE) GAGE. Isaac GAGE came to La Salle County in 1837 and farmed in Brookfield township. Mr. & Mrs. BAUGHMAN have one son, Isaac Newton BAUGHMAN, born December 19, 1888.
