[Page 95] E. P. NITSCHELM - Native of France, born March 14, 1844. His father, J. W. NITSCHELM, likewise of that country, born October 19, 1808 and came to Ottawa with his family in 1849, and died November 17, 1899. He was a graduate of the University of Paris. The wife died August, 1896 at eighty-six years. Her maiden name was Helen WIDEMAN. They had twelve children, three of whom, Mary, Adeline, and Frederic, are deceased. The last died in Peoria, Illinois. The children who survive are: E. P., of this sketch; Mrs. A. BERNARD; and Eliza, widow of A. BASTIAN. In 1884, Mr. NITSCHELM entered into partnership with W. J. SINON, they manufacture ginger ale, birch beer, seltzer, and carbonated water. In 1878, Mr. NITSCHELM married in Ottawa to Miss Carrie MYERS, daughter of Peter MYERS. Mrs. NITSCHELM was born and reared in Ottawa. They had three children: Charles Louis, died May 3, 1899, after graduating from Northwestern University; Arthur; and Carrie.
