Final rites for Mrs. Mary BACH, 89, a resident of Mendota for
many years who passed away at her home at 1053 Illinois Avenue, Mendota,
last Thursday morning, June 10th. (1943) were held Monday morning
at 10 O'clock from the Mendota Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev.
Father Leo J. WISSING, pastor, was in charge. Burial was made
in the Holy cross Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Matt WENNMACHER, Sr., William LEISER,
SR., Harry SCHMITZ, E. J. CANNON, Frank SCHMITZ,
and G. F. HOERNER.
Mrs. BACH, formerly Mary A. JAKOBS, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Peter JAKOBS, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February
24, 1854. She was married to Joseph BACH on January 17, 1877.
Mr. Bach passed away on July 1, 1889. Mrs. Bach resided on
a farm north of Mendota, and after the death of her husband moved to Mendota.
Seven children were born to this union of which the following survive:
Mrs. Jacob (Anastasia) MILLEMAN of Spencer, Iowa; Julia
at home; and N.C. BACH of LaSalle. Preceding her in death
besides her husband were four children: Josephine, Anna, John
and Christina.
Mrs. Bach was a member of the Mendota Holy Cross church since
1877 and a member of the Altar Society since 1879, and served as president
of the latter organization for 16 years.
Among those from out of town to attend the services were: Mrs. Jacob
MILLEMAN, Mr. and Mrs. N. MILLEMAN and children, Angeline and Janice; and
Mr. and Mrs. Galen E. MILLER and daughter of Spencer , Iowa; Mr.
and Mrs. Nick BACH of LaSalle; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred WHITE Jr,
of Westchester, IL; Miss Ruth J. BACH, Miss Anna MILLER and
Mrs. Elizabeth KRUEGER of Milwaukee, Wis; Charles WATROUS
of Waukegon; Misses Minnie and Marie FEIST of Bloomington, and Mrs.
R. J. STENGER of Lagrange.
Note: Mary A. Bach was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth
Jakobs.
Joseph Bach was the
son of Simon Bach and Anastasia Benz.
