b. in Germany May 12, 1834. Married to Christine PADOUINE, they had three children;
Valentine, John (Jr.) and Elizabeth. John and Christine came to the U.S. in 1879, locating
first in LaSalle County, Illinois. They stayed in Illinois for about eight (8) years,
moving to Storm Lake, Buena Vista County, Iowa sometime around 1887. John (Sr.) died March
12, 1911 in Storm Lake and Christine died December 13, 1907, also in Storm Lake.

DIETZ family: I'm looking for the family of Rena (Rene?) Dietz (b. 1868) in Ill. Her
siblings were Rhoda, Anna (Foster), Lida (Mitchell) and Verda (Verdella Morel). I believe
I found Verda in the Praire Farmer's Dir. posted on this site. Verda married Edward Morel
and lived in Somonauk. I believe the rest of this family lived in and around Somonauk.
Before joining her husband, Clarence HUNE in Forest,Hardin County, Ohio, Rena had a child,
Myrtle, who was raised by Anna Foster. The patriarch of the Dietz family is rumored to
have committed suicide upon his wife's death. I am looking for information that will lead

In the 1860 Census of LaSalle Co. IL the Erastus Gibbs family was taken in Mendota Twp.
Family was: Erastus Gibbs wife Rebecca Gibbs (nee Coltrin) children Christianna b. 1845,
Ellen b 1847, Mary b. 1849, Charles W b.1853 and George W. b. 1857 (supposedly the only
one of their children born in IL all the rest in OH)After this census the family just
disappears I can not find them anywhere. Oral history in the family is that Rebecca
Coltrin Gibbs died in 1866. searching for her death place and burial could be in La Salle
Co.???

I am trying to locate where some of my ancestors are buried. The surname is Barton.
According to census records my great grandparents, Edward and Alice Barton, lived in the
Northville township of LaSalle County in 1920. Alice's mother, Eliza Carter, lived with

I am looking for information regarding my great,great grandfather, JOHN D. MORRIS, born in
Broome Co., NY in 1806. He was a carpenter who came to Ottawa in Sept., 1831. While in
Ottawa he worked at his trade, leaving there in 1836 with several other carpenters, going
up the Mississippi to Fort Schnelling. While in Ottawa the town had an epidemic of
smallpox and more than half of the residents were afflicted. J.D. or Joe D., as he was
called helped care for the sick throughout the epidemic. This information is from a
biography written by his daughter, Anna.
