I am looking for information about a Miner family that lived in Freedom Township, La Salle County, Illinois during the early to mid 1800's. John A. Miner, on=wned a farm and a steam powered saw mill on Indian Creek. One of his Children was Jededih A. Miner. I need confirmation on John A. Miner, any history about his family and especialy any information where he lived before coming to La Salle County. He moved to Black Hawk County Iowa about 1865-1870. Researching the family of Oliver W. Trumbo and his wife Rebecca Green, especially the descendants of their daughter Jessie Gertrude Trumbo who married Wimot Van Etten. Some other surnames included in this family are: Pickett, Osgood, James, Wylie, Sinnott, Sterba. Oliver Trumbo died 1905, Rebecca Green Trumbo died 1916. Some of the family stayed in LaSalle County, part went on, many in California.

Their son, George Curtis Smith was b. 09/24/1848 in Peru, IL. He married Eliza Belle Patten 01/11/1877 in LaSalle Co., Granville, IL. Eliza Belle was b. 03/29/1852 in LaSalle Co., IL. Looking for E. A. Martin who married a Pearson. They raised my orphaned grandfather James Mark Pearson who was born in Sulphur Springs KS in 1879. They lived in Streator IL as late as 1900 and stated in a letter to the Dept of Navy on behalf of James Mark Pearson that they had raised him as their son since an early age. This means that Mrs. E. A. (Pearson) Martin must have been at least 10 years older than James. Need info on E. A. Martin.

They had four children: Robert Edward TARPEY (1887-1933), John Joseph TARPEY (1889-1918), William Vincent TARPEY (1891 - 1955), and Josephine Isabel TARPEY (1894-1991). It is believed that their parents remained in Ireland - Hubert and Mary Johnson MURPHY. Mary MURPHY married John Patrick TARPEY at St Marys Church, Peru. Bridget married Michael McManus. Both sisters, Mary Tarpey and Bridget McManus are buried at St Vincents.

My great grandfather Alvin Benjamin BUTLER was born in Leland in about 1882. He had a brother Harvey born about 1884 and possibly a brother Carl. Their parents were Herman BUTLER and Amelia PETERSON. Harvey was a farmer and stayed in the Leland area. Alvin and Carl moved to Aurora IL. Any information on families of Herman BUTLER and Amelia PETERSON would be appreciated.

Antone Newell Hinkey, my Great Grandfather, was born in Ottawa, LaSalle Co., Illinois about 1857.
