The Genealogy Room is on the second floor of Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Rd., Mundelein, IL 60060, and contains materials which are the property of LCIGS.
(Library Location)
Please note: the Genealogy Room is only open when a volunteer is on duty (75-85% of the time that the main library is open. Call the Genealogy Room (1.847.918.3208) for the latest volunteer schedule. (General Library Hours at Fremont)
As might be expected, the collection focuses on Lake County, Illinois, and the states and countries that contributed a significant number of settlers to our county. In addition to books and manuscripts, we also have card files, microfilms, microfiche, CDs, a microfilm & microfiche reader/printer, a copy machine, and two computers.
We have more material in a closed stacks area at Fremont that is available by appointment. We lovingly refer to that area as "the back room".
LCIGS provides the staff of volunteers who manage the room and the shelf list, help the patrons who visit and assist those who phone for genealogy assistance (1.847.918.3208).
This page is a work in progress. Sections will be added as they become ready.
