The St. Mary of the Annunciation Cemetery and Transfiguration Cemetery CDs feature photos of headstones and a searchable index of the entire cemetery. The early years consist of a petitioners name, birth date, birth place, and if it is the petitioners 1st or final papers. They note if he served in the Military of the United States and therefore afforded a speedier path to becoming a citizen, showing rank, company, and unit, some showing the dates of enlistment and discharge. It also shows the names of the witnesses, some who might also be ancestors. Every few years more information was added to the process forms, such as: their last foreign residence, the port of departure, mode of transportation, ship or railroad name, port of entry, and date, occupation, Spouse’s name and birthplace, children’s names, birth dates and birth places, and residence at the time of application. One court even gives a physical description of the petitioner. You will be very pleased if your relatives filed citizenship papers in Lake County.
