Over the years the Society has worked on a number of projects. Some have been completed, some are still in progress, and still others are waiting in the wings. Nothing would be accomplished without our volunteers.

To become a volunteer, call Aileen Hapke at 847-362-2033 for information or pick up an information sheet in the Genealogy Room at Fremont Library.

Cemetery Books
Since the beginning, Joan Roden has been in charge of the readings as well as the preparation of the books. Numerous volunteers over the years have walked the cemeteries collecting the data for these books.

Dorothy Dolph (a completed project).  Most cover Fremont Township families.

Genealogy Room (Fremont Library)
Call 1 847-918-3208 or 1 847-918-3206 to find out if a volunteer is on duty and the room is open.
Aileen Hapke trains new volunteers.

Karen Schumann catalogs the new materials in the main room and updates the shelf list.
Bobbie Briggs and others catalog the materials in the closed stacks area.

Publications Sales
Dorothy Dolph has been handling the orders since we began publishing books about Lake County.

Quarterly The current quarterly editor is Carol Knigge. Articles are submitted by LCIGS members.

Research Trips
Bus trips to the Newberry Library in Chicago, the Wisconsin State Library in Madison, and the Allen County Library in Fort Wayne are taken on an irregular basis. A trip to Salt Lake City the month of October was arranged in 2005 by Karen Morrison. 

Websites & Mail List
The Lake County (IL) Genealogical Society web site was created by Julie Weber and is maintained by Gloria Henke.  The Lake County GenWeb webmasters are Debbie Mieszala and Allen Elias. These sister sites complement one another. The GenWeb site accepts visitor submitted data about Lake County relatives. A Lake County Surnames List is also at this site. 

There is also a genealogy mailing list for those with Lake County relatives. An administrator is being sought to monitor this list.

Workshops
The Workshop Committee for 2005 was Carol Knigge, chairman, Bob & Cyrilla Finnegan. The workshop was held on November 5, 2005.  The chairman for 2006 is Nancy Salmela.
