I am researching the family of Julf Jacob JUELFS. He and his wife,
Maria Elisabeth DIRKS, emigrated from Germany in 1857, along with 5 of their
children. They had 4 more surviving children in the US. They settled in
Dixon in 1857 and lived there until their deaths, Jacob in 1887 and Maria in
1871. They are buried in the Burket Cemetery. Jacob and family were living
in Dixon in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses.
Their children were: Jacob JUELFS, b 1845, Germany; Henry JUELFS, b
1846, Germany; Eva JUELFS, b 1848, Germany; Anton JUELFS, b 1851, Germany;
Julius "Jim" JUELFS, b 1855, Germany (my great great grandfather); Albert
JUELFS, b 1857, Illinois (probably Dixon); Mary JUELFS, b 1860, Illinois
(probably Dixon); Christian JUELFS, b 1863, Dixon, IL; Herman JUELFS, b
1869, Illinois (probably Dixon)
As far as I know, Albert is the only child who stayed in Dixon, dying
there in 1933. The other children all spread out across the country. I'd be
interested in hearing from anyone connected to this family.

Hello from England! I am a proud member of the United States Air Force
serving overseas, and I have recently began a quest to compile a family tree
for my children. Unfortunately, I am missing some critical information.
Perhaps you could help me?
I was wondering if you could put me in touch with someone who knew my
father, George Clarence Keister who was born 8 October 1916 in Nelson,
Illinois? I believe their house was #21 in Nelson Township and I believe his
Mothers name was Clara Black. He had a few brothers, Fred and Donald Black,
and a sister Freya Black who all lived their golden years in Sterling,
Illinois. One of his cousins was Winona Angier who lived at 211 East 6th
Street Mendota, Illinois 61342. If you would be so kind to bring up my
situation at one of your meetings, I would greatly appreciate any and all
help you could give me.

Sarah Ford Fosdick Logan Dinsmore, born Dec 1835, died sometime after
1909? Sarah, born December ___? 1834 in Bradford County PA to Curtis and
Eleanor Pratt Ford, came to Lee County in 1837 along with her brothers,
Elisha, George, Ralph. Sarah married first Edward C. Fosdick in 1848, he
died Dec 1849 from a fever. She then married Thomas Logan, born 1827 in
Fulton Co., PA to Samuel and Sarah Householder Logan. Their first child was
Orlando born 1854 who married Margaret Strauss around 1873 in Lee County
(would like to know more about his residence and family); Eldora Irine was
born 1855, my great grandmother; a daughter Sarah was born 1859, last two
children born in ? Iowa. Sarah was with her oldest brother, Elisha along
with her three children in the 1860 census. Thomas died 25 Dec 1873 and then
a few years later, she married Phineas Dinsmore, a widower. I have sketchy
information on Sarah Ford Logan Dinsmore at best. She was living in Ottawa
in 1900 near her daughter's, Eldora and she is mentioned in the obituary of
Elisha Ford in 1909, Lee County. I found a query from Sept 2001 but email
was not workable that said she had children Ida and Altha??? I have no
record of these. Does anyone know of this family?

business in Dixon, Ill and also started the first telephone service in Lee

War they moved from Lewis Co, NY to Pitcherville, Jo Daviess Co. They had
three children: Richard Everett Pitcher, Mary L (Peters), Grant Washburn
Pitcher. Lester married a second time to Abigail (Cramer). In 1871 they
moved to Dixon, and had two children: Louis A. Pitcher and Bessie E.

I'm looking for information regarding my great_great grandparents. Names:
Lucilius Closson (his first name can be spelled many different ways), b.
1834, possibly in NY. Died and buried in Penn Yan, NY. And Catherine
Chappell (or Kate, or Cate), b. 1843, also possibly in NY; definitely buried
in NY. Info from the 1880 Census in Dixon, Lee County, Illinois, lists them
and their children, Ethel, Eugenia, and Edson. They were married in Ogle
County in 1868. Lucilius served in the Illinois Infantry (107, Co. D) in the
Civil War. Evidently this was Lucilius's second marriage, his first being to
Lucy Cumber in 1863 in Shelby County. Unless Illinois had more than one
Lucilius Closson. Considering I can't find anything more about him, I'm
guessing there weren't two. Thanks so much,

I am looking for any info on a John Ackerson. He is supposed to have died at
Ashton, Lee Co. IL in 1920. He is buried in DeWitt Co. IL. He was married to
Mary Halsey daughter of Eli and Nancy Scott Halsey. He and Mary had several
children in Lee Co. I would like to find out if there is a death notice in
one of the local papers or if there is a death cert in Lee Co. Thanks,

I read your post in the Lee County Genealogy Society website: In 1837 Abram
BROWN (1816-1899) left Upper Canada (Ontario) and settled in Dixon, Lee
County, Illinois. He married Correlia WHITNEY of Franklin Grove where he was
the first postmaster; later settled in Dixon. Children were Virginia, Olga,
Mary, Henry, and George. I would appreciate receiving information on his
life and descendants in exchange for information I have on his life and
ancestors in Canada. (Don Anger, 380 Catharine St., Port Colborne, Ontario,
CANADA, L3K 4L5) I am the great-great grandson of Eliza Ann Whitney. Her
older sister is Corneloa (born April 10, 1818). Corneloa married Abram BROWN
May 15, 1844; res. Dixon. Abram was born November 17, 1816. Their children:
Virginia H., born August 21, 1846, Dixon, Ill; Olga, born April 2, 1849,
Dixon, Ill.; Mary, born September 30, 1850, Dixon, Ill.; Charles Abram, born
October 17, 1852; died September 20,1855; Henry Ammi, born August 10, 1855,
Dixon, Ill.; George Marshall, born Nov. 10, 1857, Van Bureu, Arkansas. Mary,
married October 1, 1881; Henry A., married June 17, 1884.(Source:
"Descendents of John Whitney" page 415) I hope this is useful and would
welcome any information you have on the Whitney branch. Best of luck |
