On January 9, 2014, RoxAnn Raisner,
Director for the 1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House presented
a program titled Federal Clothing: From the Inside Out.
This program showed how the typical man and woman dressed during
the Federal Period (early 1800s). RoxAnn grew up in southeast
Iowa. She received her B.S. from Iowa Wesleyan College, where
she majored in Art with a double minor in History and Political
Science. Her career began in 1989, when she was hired as assistant
manager for Old Fort Madison, and in 1993 she became the site's
director. In 2003, she moved to Glen Carbon. The Friends of the
Stephenson House hired her in 2005, as the first Director of the
1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House. RoxAnn has extensive knowledge
of period sewing and clothing construction techniques for the
