Cooper Cemetery
SE 1/4 SE 1/4, Sec. 31, Twp. 17N, Range 8W
Ashland Township
Cass County, Illinois

Thanks to Jeanie Lowe for the photos and directions included here.

This cemetery is some 150 yards north of the Morgan and Cass county line. Those persons buried here were well known in Prentice, on the Morgan County side of the line. The tiny burial site, surrounded by a three feet high stone wall in need of repair, is in a field about 1 1/2 miles north of Prentice, Illinois.

Stan & Jeanie Lowe along with their goddaughter, Brianna Boggs, and her friend, Merissa Richards, re-read this cemetery on 19 Jan 2004. They took pictures of the stones they found, but the frozen ground made probing impossible. They plan to return to search for more stones when warmer weather returns.

The Cass County Historical & Genealogical Society has published a number of cemetery transcription books. Cooper Cemetery is included in the Ashland Township Cemeteries Book.
