Former Roodhouse resident Miss Lureta G. Allen, 91, of Venice, Fla., died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Venice.
She was born Jan. 7, 1912, in White Hall Township, the daughter of James Harvey and Ada Myrtle (Aired) Allen.
She is survived by a brother, Donald Allen of White Hall; three nieces, Nancy Herpsfreith of Butler, Dorothy Day of Carrollton, and Donna Hutchinson of Nokomis, Fla.; a nephew, Donald Morris of Alton; two great-nieces, Lois Seep of Ballwin, Mo., and Carol Dellinger of W. Valley City, Utah; and a great-nephew, James Phillips of Hemit, Calif.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Lois Morris and Dorcas Allen; and two brothers, Millard Allen and Hal Allen.
Miss Allen was a member of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York. Before her retirement, she was the private secretary for 30 years to L.H. LaMotte, former CEO of IBM in New York.
A delayed memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the First Baptist Church in Roodhouse, where she received her early Christian education. Burial will follow at Sanders Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Research or Sanders Cemetery.
Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse was in charge of arrangements.
