Mrs. Josephine Sharp-McCracken, aged 71 years, 4 months and 20 days, widow of William H. McCracken died at her home in Athensville, this county, January 1st, 1921. She was born in Athensville township and resided in that vicinity all her life.
Her husband died in 1896. Of their seven children four survive as follows: Jennie, Charles E., Sophia, all of Athensville vicinity and barney E., of Litchfield, Ill. Four grand-children and one great-grand-child also survive.
Her surviving brothers and sisters are Dennis G. Sharp of Severence, Kansas; Mrs. Julia A. White of Scottville and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Waterloo, Oregon.
Early in life she became afflicted with epilepsy and was a great sufferer for many years with that disease, but the immediate cause of her death was Bright's disease. She was a member of the Christian church at Union and endeavored to the best of her Master and was a consistent Christian lady and mother.
Elder Z. A. Edwards of Nilwood conducted funeral services at the Christian church at Athensville. Interment was made in the family lot in the Athensville cemetery.
