BELLTOWN CEMETERY OBITUARIES

KIRGAN, RUSSELL ROWE

White Hall Register Republican, 15 Jan 1926

Russell Kirgan.

Russell Rowe Kirgan, aged about 15 years, 4 months and 5 days, son of John W. and Lucy Jacques-Kirgan, died at the home of his parents, about one and a half miles northwest of Greenfield, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 1926, after thirteen months of most intense suffering with what was diagnosed as Hodgkins disease (lymphatic lucemis). Despite the best efforts of medical and surgical skill and the loving care of nurses and parents, he gradually succumbed to the dread disease. Notwithstanding his long suffering he was cheerful toward everyone and often expressed his great appreciation of the efforts of friends and relatives to alleviate his suffering.

He was an industrious young lad, obedient and studious, and until his health failed was a regular attendant at school, where he was highly regarded by teachers and schoolmates and all who knew him.

Besides the bereaved parents, he is survived by four sisters and five brothers, as follows: Mrs. Loy Price, Hillview; Emil, Howard, Helen, Clyde, Eugene, Marcella, Almeda, and Ivan Kirgan at home.

Rev. Oscar F. Jones of the Methodist church at Greenfield, conducted funeral services at the late home at 11:00 a.m., Friday. Another short service was conducted at the church at Belltown that afternoon after which interment was made in the Belltown cemetery.

The flowers which were very beautiful, were cared for by Helen Kirgan, sister of deceased, Alma Kesinger, Lucille Hodapp and Norma Jackson.

The bearers were Emil and Howard Kirgan, brothers, Lynn Kinser, Harry Witt, Howard and Paul Scott. The flower girls and pall bearers were schoolmates of the deceased.

The family desires to express sincere thanks to friends and neighbors and all who were so kind and thoughtful during the prolonged illness and after the death of Russell. They also appreciate the use of cars.
