GRAFTON -- LuVerne Henry "Vern" Rominsky, 72, died at 11:14 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Northeastern Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio after a one week illness.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Fingal, N.D., a son of the late Henry and Bertha (Behm) Rominsky and grew up and graduated from Fingal High School.
Throughout his life, he worked for local, regional and national trucking companies, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Valley City, N.D., and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. For the past 15 years, he had lived in Grafton and San Antonio with his soul mate, Norma Anderson of Grafton.
After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he married the former Beverly Matzke in Marion, N.D.
He is survived by six children and their spouses, Donald and Pat Rominsky of El Paso, Texas, Jeff Rominsky of LaFayette, La., Todd Rominsky of Wilmington, Del., Linda and David Bye of Quantico, Va., Janelle Johnson of LuVerne, N.D., and Jodi and Andy Wahlund of Elkton, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Ted Schmidt of West Fargo, N.D.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of services at 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. Jon Lobos will officiate.
Full military graveside services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday by the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 and VFW Post 4528 at Borlin Cemetery in
rural Eldred.Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans.
