Morris E. "Gene" Tuey, 74, of Eldred, died Monday
afternoon, June 10, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Carrollton, the son of Leo and Lena Starkey Tuey. He married Betty Gilleland Aug. 8, 1952, at Mount Gilead Church near Carrollton, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Rick of Eldred; one granddaughter; one sister, Betty (husband, Tom) Maberry of Carrollton; and one brother, Paul (wife, Phyllis) of Bath. He was preceded in death by one brother, James (surviving wife, Barb Tuey, of Carrollton).
Mr. Tuey worked as a crane mechanic for Laclede Steel in Alton for 29 years, retiring in 1996. He was a U.S. Army vetern of the Korean conflict and a past longtime member of the Jerseyville Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial with military rites will follow at Borlin Cemetery southwest of Carrollton near his farm. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Greene County Health Department.
