Wilbur 'Jack' Shaw

CARROLLTON -- Wilbur "Jack" Shaw, 69, died on Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at the John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis. Born May 12, 1932, in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Wilbur W. Shaw and Leta Custer Shaw.

Surviving in addition to his mother are five brothers, Larry Shaw of Curryville, Mo., Garry Shaw and Robert Shaw of Beardstown, Ronnie Shaw of Carrollton, and Dennis Shaw of Covington, Tenn.; eight sisters, Jean Russell of Jerseyville, Donna Becker of Greenfield, Vickie Fry of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Barbara Garland of Pekin, Linda Hart of Burleson, Texas, Sandra Stout of Kampsville, Caroline Simpkins of Morgantown, W.Va., and Sharon Ayres of Hardin; several nephews and nieces.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving more than 20 years, including the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a lifetime member of the Jerseyville Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. at the Carter Cemetery south of Carrollton. Military rites will be accorded by the Jerseyville VFW.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
