Hermitage Cemetery

Sec. 26 SW 1/4 SE 1/4, Twp. 11 N, R. 10 W
Rubicon Township
Greene County, Illinois

Situated in southwestern Rubicon Township, Hermitage Cemetery is only about one and one-half miles from the Greene-Macoupin line. About one-half mile northeast of Hermitage Cemetery is Rubicon Cemetery. Hermitage Cemetery is easily reached by driving east on the road that is situated on the north edge of Greenfield's Oakland Cemetery.

From the Gazette-Patriot, Carrollton, IL, Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 - from an article dealing with Greene County Days.

Situated on land adjoining property owned by Coy Hedgecock, this cemetery was first used in 1834. Hedgecock, a descendant of someone buried in the cemetery, mows the ground periodically and answers inquiries he receives from descendants of people buried there.
