Fariba McCants, widow of the late Wm. McCants, died last Sunday morning at 6 o'clock, at the home of her son, Samuel, in the east part of town. She was in the 78th year of her age, and had been sick less than a week. Mrs. McCants was born Oct. 13, 1822, at Elk Creek, Va., came to Illinois when about 10 years old, and has lived in this state ever since. She joined the M. E. church in Greenfield in 1846, and always lived a Christian life. She was married Jan. 4, 1838, to Wm. McCants, and to them were born thirteen children, six of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. Sarah Scoggins of Greenfield, Mary L McCants of Santa Barbara, Cal., Albert, Adrian, Samuel and Louisa McCants of Carrollton. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Robt. J Church, and the body was taken Tuesday morning to Hickory Grove for burial.
